National Ploughing Championships 2026 Coach to Screggan

The National Ploughing Championships 2026 are almost here, returning to Screggan, Tullamore, Co. Offaly from Tuesday 15th to Thursday 17th September 2026.

Matthews.ie will be running a dedicated return coach service on Wednesday 16th September, giving passengers from Inniskeen, Dundalk, Monasterboice, Drogheda and City North Hotel an easy way to travel directly to one of Ireland’s biggest annual events.

National Ploughing Championships 2026

This year marks the 95th National Ploughing Championships, with Screggan once again hosting three days celebrating Irish agriculture, food, farming, business and rural life.

While competitive ploughing remains at the heart of the event, there is far more to see and do throughout the site.

Visitors can expect a huge machinery and livestock exhibition, demonstrations of the latest agricultural machinery and technology, food producers, business exhibitors, craft demonstrations, competitions and family entertainment. The event also showcases Irish food, farming and culture, with artisan produce, cookery demonstrations and a Local Enterprise area among the attractions.

Whether you work in agriculture or simply enjoy one of Ireland’s biggest days out, there is plenty to explore across the site.

If you’re travelling from the North East, Matthews.ie can take the hassle out of getting to Screggan.

Dundalk, Marshes Shopping Centre – 6:00am
Monasterboice – 6:20am
Drogheda, Georges Street – 6:30am
City North Hotel – 6:45am

The service travels directly to Screggan, Tullamore for the National Ploughing Championships. Matthews.ie currently lists the service for Wednesday 16th September from 5:30am.

Return journey from Screggan

The return journey will depart Screggan at 4:00pm sharp, so passengers should make sure they are back at the coach meeting point in plenty of time.

How much is the Matthews.ie Ploughing coach?

The dedicated return coach costs:

€35 return per person

Seats must be pre-booked and pre-paid.

With the Championships drawing large crowds to Screggan, booking your coach in advance means your transport is already organised before the day.

Please remember that the €35 fare is for Matthews.ie coach travel only.

Admission to the National Ploughing Championships is not included and event tickets must be purchased separately.
