Traditional music fans in Dublin and Dundalk can travel with ease to this year’s Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann with innovate coach company Matthews.ie.
This year’s Fleadh, which for the first time ever will be held in Drogheda, takes place from August 12-19.
With 133 daily services between Dublin and the north east, Matthews.ie are making the journey up the M1 a breeze for thousands of music fans.
An estimated 400,000 revellers are expected to pour into the region as part of the festivities and the Fleadh Committee are urging them to avail of public transport.
“Travelling by bus is the best way to get to Drogheda during the Fleadh,” said Matthews managing director, Paddy Matthews.
“As a Green Patron Sponsor, we’re asking as many people as possible to leave the car at home and travel to the Fleadh in comfort on our regular Drogheda service.
“Our Dublin-Drogheda service picks up on Cumberland Street North and stops in the heart of town, right in the centre of all the festival venues.
“For Dundalk passengers, we have frequent departures throughout the day from Marshes Shopping Centre.
“For those looking to travel on multiple days, we have a great value ten-trip ticket for €60 that can be used on any day.
“Our ten-trip ticket can also be shared among family members or groups travelling together which works out cheaper for you.”
From Monday 13th to Friday 17th Matthews.ie will service all stops as normal in and around Drogheda town.
However, passengers are advised to expect delays as the week develops and more events commence.
Delays will also affect Bettystown and Laytown due to high volumes of traffic expected in Julianstown and on the R132 to Drogheda
On Saturday, August 18th and Sunday 19th, Matthews.ie will not stop at North road or on George’s street, in both directions due to road closures.
As a result, Matthews.ie will stop at Trinity Street via the Cement Road – with a new stop on both sides of the road on Trinity Street at McCloskey’s Shop. New signage will be in place at this location.
