Matthews.ie have announced changes to their UCD service designed to speed up the commute for those travelling to the south side of Dublin city on the popular route.
The innovative transport company are adding new service times, as well as route changes to avoid heavy traffic.
These changes will take effect from November 11th.
“It was important for us to streamline this popular commuter service,” said managing director Paddy Matthews.
“We are delighted to now travel via the Port Tunnel in the morning, which will greatly reduce travel times for this service.
“We have also listened to our customers and diverted this route from Clare Street, which sees heavy delays during commuting hours.
“Commuters to the Southside as well as UCD students will see a quicker commute as well as more choice on service times.”
The Dundalk – Drogheda – UCD service will see new services at 06:00 and 07:00 on the UCD-bound morning service and 16:10 and 18:10 on the Dundalk-bound evening service.
The Bettystown-UCD service will also benefit from new services, with coaches running at 06:50 on the morning service to UCD and 18:15 on the evening service to Bettystown.
Thanks to customer feedback, both routes on the Matthews.ie UCD service will now take the Port Tunnel on the morning service, which will now serve the following stops: North Wall Quay
Convention Centre, Westland Row and Merrion Street.
These will replace the current stops at Cathal Brugha Street, Sherriff Street, Nassau Street and Kildare Street.
In the evening, the route home will no longer service the Clare Street stop and will instead serve Westland Row.
Please note that to streamline the service, a number of stops are also being retired from the Bettystown route, all of which are serviced by other existing stops within walking distance.
Coaches travelling towards Dublin City Centre will now stop at Southgate, Donacarney Church, Donacarney Little, Donacarney School, Bettaghastown Cross, Castlemartin, Tesco, Bettystown Village, Inse Bay, Laytown Railway Station, Julianstown Public House, Whitecross, Mosney Cross and City North Business Campus before reaching Dublin.
Please note that while the stops at Bettystown Village and Donacarney Little will be in operation on the service towards Dublin City Centre, on the service home towards Bettystown these stops will not be in operation.
These changes will apply across the Matthews.ie Bettystown services, including the Dublin, IFSC and UCD services.
