Scottish Ramble

 

May 13th – 17th 2018

Join us on a five day adventure as we travel through the rolling wooded hills and narrow lochs of Central Scotland. This holiday takes in the spirit of Scotland as we travel around the Scottish countryside and also pay a visit to the capital of Edinburgh. No trip to Scotland is complete without a visit to a distillery where we sample a “wee dram”. An excellent opportunity to see Scotland’s delights. Tour is based in Stirling an historic and vibrant city.

DAY 1:  After our morning pickups (listed below) we will travel to Belfast for 10.00am check in and 11.30am mid-morning sailing to Cairnryan on the Scottish Ayrshire coast. Once on land we will travel via Glasgow and travel onwards to Stirling the gateway to the Highland’s for our early evening check-in and dinner at our hotel in Stirling.

Stirling is a vibrant Scottish city, home to many of Scotland's top attractions including Stirling Castle, Bannockburn and The National Wallace Monument.

DAY 2: Today’s destination is the Scottish capital of Edinburgh. Edinburgh is Scotland's compact, hilly capital. Built around a medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical buildings. A local guide will keep us entertained with many interesting facts of this great old city on a tour of the sights. Hera about King Arthurs Seat and the imposing Castle that guards the city. Afterwards free time is allocated so you can explore this historic city a little further, or do a little shopping in the many outlets of the city centre.

DAY 3: Today we make a morning visit to Stirling Castle, a great seat of Scottish power for many Centuries. Hear stories of people such as William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and Mary Queen of Scots.  Following our visit you are free for lunch in Stirling’s old town district.

In the afternoon we travel through the countryside to the home of one Scotland's most famous malt whiskies , Glengoyne Distillery. Glengoyne Distillery is operating since its founding in 1833 at Dumgoyne, north of Glasgow.  Included in this visit is a tour and some Scotch whisky tasting.

We later travel back along the Highland’s line to Stirling in time for evening dinner at our hotel.

DAY 4: This morning we take a short drive to the Shores of Loch Katrine and spend a few hours cruising the Loch with lunch included. Loch Katrine is an 8 miles-long fresh water loch in the heart of Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park.  Two famous character lend their stories to the Loch. Rob Roy McGregor and Walter Scott.

The afternoon time is free in Stirling to explore the old city and allow some time for shopping before evening dinner. Head to the Thistles Shopping Centre or the Stirling Arcade, a beautiful Victorian styled building in the heart of the city. Just want to sit back and watch the world go by then head out on to Murray Place and Port Street, this is Stirling’s high-street and home to many lovely little cafes.

We will return to the hotel in plenty of time to freshen up for evening dinner.

DAY 5:  Unfortunately after a Hearty Scottish breakfast this morning we must leave and travel back home via Glasgow and the Ayrshire coast to catch the 15.30 sailing from Cairnryan back to Belfast port. We will make a stop for Tea/coffee before we reach the port and board for our sailing home arriving back into Belfast early evening. (approx. into Belfast at 5.30pm).
