Each day our Professional Driver/guide will fill you full of stories and history associated with this magnificent part of the country as you travel around. You’ll be surprised at what you may learn!!

Day 1: After our pickups this morning (listed below) we travel North-wards through County Monaghan and Fermanagh for a morning stop at Belleek Pottery (11.30am). Tea and scones are served and then we take a tour of the pottery. Belleek Pottery & Visitor Centre is home to one of the oldest working Potteries in the world beginning its existence in 1857. Guided tours of the complete production facility are offered giving guests a real opportunity to see how the product has become a Worldwide brand.

Later we travel through Ballyshannon to Donegal town (arrive approx. 3.30pm) where the rest of the afternoon is set aside to browse the many craft shops around the town centre. This evening dinner is served and afterwards sample entertainment at our hotel or at the many bars within easy walking distance.

Donegal is at the mouth of the River Eske. Originally built in the 15th century, Donegal Castle has later additions from the Jacobean period. The Four Masters Memorial obelisk honours 4 scribes from the nearby Franciscan friary, now in ruins. Donegal Railway Heritage Centre hosts rail memorabilia in an old station house. Donegal Bay is home to a seal colony, plus cormorants and cranes. Vibrant town with great entertainment.

Day 2: Today you can travel on our Optional trip or relax around town. First this morning we have a visit to Donegal Castle (11am short walk from Hotel). When it was originally built in 1474 by Hugh O’Donnell, chief of the O’Donnell clan, Donegal Castle was among the most impressive castles in the country, and over 6 centuries later it’s lost none of its impact. During its history the castle has had just two families in residence. The O’Donnell clan held it until until 1607, when they fled Ireland following a failed rebellion – becoming part of the so-called ‘flight of the earls’

A few years later the King granted the castle and its lands to Basil Brooke, whose descendants owned it until 1898 when it was donated to the state. It was partially restored in the 1990s

In the afternoon avail of an optional trip to Letterkenny for half day shopping or stay in town and use the Hotel Leisure facilities or chill out in one of the many bars or restaurants all within easy walking distance. Dinner at Hotel again this evening.

Day 3: After breakfast at leisure and a late check out (12pm) we travel a different route on our way home through the Donegal Mountains and the Tyrone countryside to the town of Omagh. We will make a lunch stop (Included) on way back at Kelly’s Inn and arrive home early evening.
