Description: Join us for a wonderful 4 day break to the North West and experience the wonders of Derry City and County Donegal. A truly fascinating tour that experiences the history,culture and literature of Ireland’s North west and Wild Atlantic Coast.
Day 1: This morning we Travel Northwards to County Derry through the Ulster Countryside to the County Derry village of Bellaghy and the new Seamus Heaney Visitor Centre and hear about the life and stories of the talented writer who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1995. After brief tour you can use café before we travel onto Derry for a visit to the newly restored Guildhall and hotel check-in.
Day 2: After breakfast we take a trip to Donegal around the Inishowen Peninsula and Ireland’s most Northerly Point, Malin Head. We return to Derry for afternoon tea and scones at the Beech Hill Country House Hotel, Headquarters of the US Navy during WW11 and finish with some afternoon free time exploring City shops and bars.
Day 3: Today is a day in the City. This morning we have a Walking Tour along the city Walls with a local Guide. After a rest stop we Visit the Museum of Free Derry, a new purpose built museum telling the story of the people of Derry and the Civil Rights Heritage and Bloody Sunday. We have a light lunch at the Walled City Brewery and a local beer and then allow extra time to explore the City. Take a walk back across the new Peace bridge across the River Foyle.
Day 4:This morning we leave Derry and travel along the North coast to County Antrim and the Giants Causeway. Spend time here and then a stop in Ballycastle for lunch before we head homewards along the famous Antrim Coast road, one of the World’s best Coastal drives arriving home early evening.
